I strolled through Westminster by the bank and made a couple of drawings. I didn't really want to draw Big Ben, but I found a lovely spot to sit under a chestnut tree by the abbey. It was a late afternoon, the light was golden, rain clouds loomed in the near distance, and the bells were ringing.

Here's a short film set in Christchurch Park, Ipswich. It's a film about a tree expressing it's love for a man. A man that jogs in the park daily.

I wrote the music and lyrics, and Louise McDonnell of Lil' Lost Lou, sang and performed the song. I made this piece around two years ago when I was living in Ipswich, but only now felt the desire to edit and put it together.

While there is rioting in the streets of the capital I live in, I thought I'd make this blog entry about a multi-storey car park in Ipswich that has nothing to do with sensless disorder. You see, this lump of a car park was knocked down not so long ago to become, well, a car park. A couple of years ago I simply had too much time on my hands and decided to visit this miserable building and take photos. Thanks to my friend Mr. Champion for providing the 'after' b/w pics.

Callyfest: The Hot Swamp Jamboree took place on the Caledonian Road, London N1 on 22nd August 2009. The festival was conceived and organised by Louise McDonnell, a resident of the Bemerton Estate.

Everybody's Hobbies was the best toy shop in Ipswich before the dawn of Toys R Us. It had a fantastic stock of model railway, scaled models, and remote control vehicles. I closed in 1995/6. It has since become an ever changing bar/ restaurant for the binge drinking crowd.

I had never known about the film until I watched it just last year. I had, of course, heard the song. The film was released in 1984 to poor box office and was considered nothing more than a string of pop videos. What surprised me most about this film was the cinematography. Macro, time-lapse, slow-mo, contra-zooms... it's all in here- and with reason. The film is a concoction of visual brilliance, and was directed by Steve Barron who also directed the A-ha video 'Take on Me'.

This is the Art Shop Haste Gallery on Great Colman Street, Ipswich. I worked here as a framer from 1989 - 91. The shop closed many years ago and is now an outdoor clothing store. The artists' paint palette door handle is still present. These photo's were taken in 1989 with my Olympus OM10.

As autumn takes hold spiders seem to appear from everywhere. I tell myself I'm not afraid but every so often the buggers take you by surprise, and I do feel genuine fear. This leggy git appeared in my hallway at night while I popped into the kitchen to make a cuppa. He appeared a damn sight bigger than he actually was... but I managed to trap him under a glass and chuck him outside. As a watched him scurry away in blistering silent speed I couldn't help but feel mightily entertained.

Felixstowe's seaside entertainment extravaganza!

During the Heritage Open Days in Ipswich this weekend, I popped into the Willis building to have a gander. Designed by Norman Foster, it was constructed in the early seventies and is now recognised as great contemporary architecture. In 1991 the Willis was granted a Grade I listed building status. The exterior is a curved wall of smoked glass. On top of the building lies a blanket of perfectly mowed lawn. Inside has three floors of open plan office with main esculators running up and down through the middle. The building once had a swimming pool but was retired in the early 90s and covered to accommodate more worker bees. You can still still see the empty pool through glass slits in the floor. Though the building retains a rather funky seventies taste, I think it succeeds as a timeless aesthetic.

Here is a clip from a show called Beyond Tomorrow that was aired a few years ago on the Discovery Channel. It's another example of how FreeForm is used to sculpt portrait busts. It also shows the ease at which a client can provide input during the sculpting process.

Il était une fois... l'Homme (Once Upon A Time... Man) was aired in the late seventies/early eighties in the uk. The title sequence was most memorable for the end.
